Position Summary
Evans is seeking an Instructional Designer to build training programs that drive real capability across the organization. This role turns complex construction, operational, and leadership concepts into practical, digestible learning for. You’ll partner closely with leaders and subject matter experts to accelerate new‑hire readiness and develop structured training for project management, estimating, field operations, and leadership. The Senior Instructional Designer will also identify capability gaps and implement training solutions that improve performance, strengthen culture, and support Evans’ long‑term growth.
Job Responsibilities
Training Strategy and Program Development
- Design and implement training programs that support business goals, operational excellence, and leadership development
- Assess organizational needs and identify gaps in technical, operational, and leadership capabilities
- Build structured learning paths for key roles including project managers, estimators, superintendents, and emerging leaders
- Develop scalable training frameworks that can grow with the business
- Align learning initiatives with company priorities, growth strategy, and project execution needs
Instructional Design & Content Development
- Design and develop training across multiple formats including instructor led, virtual, eLearning, and blended learning
- Create high quality training materials such as participant guides, facilitator guides, job aids, playbooks, and process documentation
- Translate complex construction processes, systems, and technical information into clear and practical learning content
- Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to drive engagement and retention
- Establish consistent standards, templates, and best practices for training content
Training Delivery and Facilitation
- Coordinate training delivery/facilitation through in person sessions, virtual classrooms, and workshops
- Facilitate engaging learning experiences that include real world scenarios, problem solving, and hands on application
- Build credibility with both field and office teams through practical and relevant instruction
Leadership Development and Organizational Impact
- Design and deliver leadership development programs for emerging leaders, managers, and senior leaders
- Partner with leadership to identify development needs, capability gaps, and succession priorities
- Support initiatives that strengthen culture, improve engagement, and drive performance
- Contribute to broader talent development efforts including career pathing and role progression
SME Collaboration and Technical Alignment
- Work closely with subject matter experts across areas including advanced technology, life sciences, manufacturing, MEP, food and beverage processing, and cold storage, etc.
- Extract and structure knowledge from technical experts into usable training content
- Ensure all learning materials reflect real world execution and current business practices
- Continuously update training based on process, system, and project changes
Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
- Measure training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and performance outcomes
- Use data and field input to refine programs and improve learner experience
- Maintain and evolve a centralized library of training materials and resources
- Stay current on industry trends, learning technologies, and best practices
Basic Qualifications
- 4 or more years of experience in instructional design, learning and development, or organizational development
- Proven experience designing and delivering training programs across multiple formats
- Strong project management and coordination skills
- Ability to influence, challenge, and hold managers accountable
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills
- Experience working with subject matter experts in technical or operational environments
- Experience building leadership development programs and structured learning paths
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and training analytics
- Construction or engineering experience preferred
