Evans Berger Scientific (EBS) is looking for a passionate and dedicated Applied Scientist to join our team. In this role, you will be involved with projects related to optics, specifically characterization of optical systems. As part of a small team, you will work on diverse projects spanning a variety of technical areas including optics, electronics, and detector characterization. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to gain hands-on experience and grow their skills in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform characterization and modeling of lens systems
- Assist in design and implementation of data processing and visualization algorithms
- Research image/signal processing techniques
- Learn and apply new technologies
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Communicate effectively with team members and other stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelors, Applied Physics or similar w/ minimum 3 yrs exp or Masters, Applied Physics or similar
- Experience in:
o Hands-on laboratory work
o Optical modeling/design
o Scientific computing
o Research and development
- Familiarity with:
o Data analysis
o Test design
o Remote sensing, detector systems, or image science
- Other requirements
o Familiarity with the problems that arise when designing and implementing complex systems and solutions
o Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
o Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
o Local to Northern Virginia
