Primary Purpose
To copy edit PreK through 6th grade educational materials to ensure the correctness and accuracy of assigned products, via a hybrid workflow: electronic and hardcopy
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Copy edit assigned projects throughout development cycle, including PDFs, bluelines, and covers
- Fact-check content of products in development
- Other copy editing duties as assigned
Skills and Attributes
- Keen eye for detail
- Close attention to accuracy and consistency, including relationship between text and design elements
- Thorough knowledge of grammar and usage
- Response to deadlines
Experience
- 5–6 years of copy editing experience for printed materials
- Experience in educational publishing, particularly for the elementary school market
- Thorough knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style
Technology Requirements
- A Windows PC or Mac computer
- iPad Pro (which comes w/pencil). PDF Expert (which is is free.)
OR
- A Windows PC or Mac computer
- a good quality scanner
