Land Survey Crew Chief – Full-Time | Milwaukee Area
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Land Survey Crew Chief to join our growing team in the Milwaukee area. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of public and private sector projects while contributing to high-quality surveying and field operations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical abilities, leadership skills, and hands-on field experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a survey crew or operate independently as a one-person crew.
- Perform construction staking, topographic surveys, plats of survey, subdivision plats, certified survey maps, and legal descriptions.
- Adjust, operate, and maintain surveying instruments, including total stations, auto levels, GPS units, and data collectors.
- Gather and analyze field data using maps, prior survey records, photographs, and digital files.
- Complete drafting tasks using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD/Civil3D as needed.
- Ensure clear communication and coordination with project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Maintain professional knowledge and stay current with industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in land surveying.
- Proficiency with Total Stations, auto levels, GPS, and data collectors.
- AutoCAD and GPS experience required; Civil3D/MicroStation familiarity preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of construction staking and survey documentation.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry 30–45 lbs. of survey equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work independently or within a team.
