Duties
- Monitor and observe patients continuously to ensure safety and identify changes in behavior or mental status
- Assist with crisis intervention strategies to de-escalate tense situations and provide immediate support during psychiatric emergencies
- Support patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, nutrition, and medication administration under supervision
- Maintain accurate medical records, documenting patient interactions, observations, and treatment responses in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs
- Manage behavior through positive reinforcement techniques and behavior management strategies to promote stability and progress
- Participate in training related to psychiatric care, medical terminology, patient monitoring, and behavioral health best practices
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in acute care settings such as hospitals or corrections facility medical clinics is highly desirable
- Knowledge of psychiatry principles, crisis intervention techniques, and behavioral health practices
- Familiarity with medical terminology, patient observation protocols, and medical records management
- Experience in medication administration and patient monitoring within a healthcare environment
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or mental health conditions in a compassionate manner
- Certification or training related to nursing assistance or behavioral health is preferred but not mandatory
