What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant position at Eustasis Psychiatric & Addiction Health?
We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist or Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to providing compassionate, high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake by updating medical histories, preparing patients for their appointments, and obtaining and documenting vital signs.
- Administer injections and other treatments as directed by providers and within scope of practice.
- Perform venipuncture and specimen collection for patients of ages 4 through geriatric.
- Collect and process urine drug screens.
- Draw routine laboratory tests, including CBC, CMP, and other standard lab panels for age.
- Prepare, process, and package specimens for reference laboratories.
- Coordinate laboratory pickups and ensure timely processing of STAT specimens.
- Communicate critical laboratory results promptly to providers according to established protocols.
- Manage laboratory inventory by monitoring supplies and ordering materials from approved vendors.
- Assist with billing for laboratory send-out testing to participating insurance carriers.
- Maintain accurate laboratory documentation, invoicing, and records.
- Provide compassionate, professional patient care while supporting providers and collaborating with the clinical team.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Phlebotomist or Medical Assistant required.
- Excellent venipuncture skills and confidence drawing patients for ages 4 and up.
- Experience administering injections and performing patient intake and vital signs.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of laboratory specimen handling, processing, and safety standards.
- Experience with laboratory billing and insurance processes is preferred.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Current certification is preferred.
