Description
Lead and manage tooling and fixture development, maintenance, and support for production to ensure tooling accuracy, maximize equipment uptime and efficiency, support die and engineering changes, maintain inventory and preventive maintenance programs, and provide technical guidance to manufacturing and quality to meet production, safety, and quality requirements.
- Oversee and manage daily tooling & part-fixture support and development for production.
- CAD Design for GD&T to produce the tooling
- Ensure accuracy of all tooling specifications.
- Evaluate tooling/fixture work requests and job times and coordinate to optimize resources to meet internal process requirements/needs
- Support quoting on all new and revised tooling
- Communicate needs to purchasing for required supplies for new tooling/fixture construction.
- Maintain tooling materials inventory.
- Ensure compliance with all appropriate health and safety policies
- Participate in all die design reviews related to engineering program changes
- Implement minor engineering changes.
- Support Quality by improving and maintaining tools and dies.
Existing Tools
· Provide technical assistance to manufacturing and quality assurance
· Maintain accurate records of tools to provide a history of performance.
· Create preventive maintenance and schedules for tools' maximum efficiency
· Maintain spare parts and organize for practical usage
· Coordinate with the toolroom supervisor and production to schedule tool changeovers, sharpenings, etc.
· Recommend timing to replace or refurbish tools.
· Implementing and maintaining a preventive maintenance program for the dies, which will include reporting on the condition of the dies.
- Enforce safety standards and housekeeping procedures (example 5s) to ensure a clean and organized work environment and maintain the tool room equipment. Wear all personal protective equipment as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or related to tool making or equivalent, highly desired
- Knowledge of the Steel Lamination Punch Process is highly desired.
- Ability to read and understand engineering prints
- Above-average analytical skills
- Solid computer skills using Microsoft Office, ERP, and highly desired
- SolidWorks or other CAD software experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of stamping dies (progressive, blanking).
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Certified Welding Specialist
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Computerized measuring machines.
Ability to work well independently.
