ABOUT THE ROLE

This isn't your average technician position. At European Auto Garage, we're looking for an experienced European Automotive Technician who takes pride in doing things the right way — from accurate diagnostics to high-quality repairs.

This role is ideal for a technician who enjoys solving complex problems and working on BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen, and MINI vehicles. You’ll have the opportunity to perform advanced diagnostic and specialty work rather than focusing solely on routine maintenance.

We’re looking for someone who can confidently diagnose issues, perform complex repairs, communicate effectively with the team, and consistently deliver quality work.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Independently diagnose mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns.

• Diagnose complex issues without relying solely on fault codes.

• Read wiring diagrams and perform proper circuit testing.

• Utilize professional diagnostic equipment and advanced testing tools.

• Perform major mechanical repairs, including timing, cooling, suspension, engine, and transmission-related work.

• Diagnose CAN-bus and network communication issues.

• Perform European vehicle programming, coding, and module replacement when applicable.

• Complete thorough digital vehicle inspections with clear photographs and detailed technician notes.

• Accurately document test results, repair recommendations, and completed repairs.

• Follow established diagnostic, dispatch, and quality-control procedures.

• Protect customer vehicles and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

• Work efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards and minimizing comebacks.

• Assist with mentoring and developing less-experienced technicians when needed.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Minimum 5 years of professional automotive repair experience.

• At least 3 years of European vehicle experience.

• Strong experience working on BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen, or MINI.

• Ability to diagnose and repair vehicles independently.

• Experience using factory-level or European diagnostic equipment.

• Proficiency with scan tools, oscilloscopes, multimeters, smoke machines, and pressure-testing equipment.

• Complete professional tool set.

• High school diploma or GED.

• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

• Ability to consistently produce quality work while meeting reasonable productivity expectations.

• Positive attitude and professional conduct.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technicians, advisors, parts personnel, and management.

• Willingness to accept coaching, take responsibility, and continuously improve.

• A solution-oriented mindset — when you identify a problem, you also bring possible solutions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous dealership or independent European-specialty shop experience.

• ASE certifications, especially A1–A8 or L1.

• Factory training from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Audi, or Volkswagen.

• Experience with BMW ISTA, Mercedes Xentry, Porsche PIWIS, or VW/Audi ODIS.

• Experience diagnosing CAN-bus and network communication problems.

• Knowledge of European vehicle programming, coding, and module replacement.

• Familiarity with Tekmetric or Protractor.

• Ability to produce 40–50 flagged hours per week without sacrificing quality.

• Experience mentoring less-experienced technicians.

• Knowledge of European maintenance requirements and common failure patterns.
