Molecular Profiling Scientist - Group Leader

Job includes, but is not limited to:

• Perform total RNA isolation and QC of various tissues/cells from human, non-human primate and rodents
• Gene expression profiling and data analysis using NGS, RT-qPCR and hybridization-based platforms
• Work up and troubleshoot new protocol methods centric to NGS platforms

• Prepare and present relevant data to internal and external stakeholders
• Act as a team leader and organize activites in the area assigned
• Train and lead others and efficiently prioritize and manage their time
• Coordinate training for employees within group and ensure records are up to date
• Assist in the hiring process and on-boarding of new employees
• Perform performance appraisals and coaching for direct reports
• Work as a liaison between clients, supervisors, and lab to report progress, needs, and delays
• Understand and report metrics monthly, quarterly, and yearly
• Identify risks to business and recommend process improvements

Position Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge in molecular biology techniques, specifically for total RNA isolation, quantitation and qualification, and NGS library preparation
• Familiarity with RT-qPCR methods and NGS library prep and sequencing methods. Experience with NGS analysis data visualization software such as Cell Ranger or BioTuring is a plus.
• Familiarity with Illumina sequencing and RT-qPCR platforms (QuantStudio or Standard Biotools Biomark).
• Solid experience with Microsoft office and other applications (e.g. Spotfire, R Studio, GraphPad Prism, Illumina BaseSpace, Omicsoft, Geneious)
• Must have good communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently in highly collaborative team setting and is adaptable to the changing needs of teams associated with the lab’s projects
• Ability to learn new techniques, multi-tasking, high attention to details, keeps accurate and timely records, follows instructions, and comply with company policies
  
  

Qualifications

• B.S/B.A with minimum 5 years of experience; M.S. with minimum 3 years of experience; PhD with 1-2 years of experience. Degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
