What You’ll Do
Build & Lead the Quality System
- Design, implement, and continuously improve a QMS aligned with ISO 9001:2015
- Establish inspection standards across incoming, in-process, and final production
- Own document control, calibration systems, and audit programs
- Ensure compliance with AAMA, ASTM, NFRC, and Florida Building Code
Drive Quality Execution
- Lead incoming inspections (aluminum, glass, hardware, sealing systems)
- Own non-conformance management and escalation
- Drive root cause analysis using 5 Whys & Fishbone
- Lead and enforce CAPA processes with measurable outcomes
Elevate Supplier Quality
- Qualify and audit suppliers using FAI and structured evaluations
- Maintain supplier scorecards (quality, delivery, responsiveness)
- Partner with Procurement to resolve supplier issues and improve performance
Ensure Product & Design Quality
- Partner with Engineering on Design for Quality (DFQ)
- Oversee compliance for Florida Product Approval & impact certifications
- Review and approve shop drawings and engineering specs prior to production
Lead the Team & Culture
- Manage and develop quality engineers, technicians, and inspectors
- Deliver training on inspection techniques, standards, and defect prevention
- Champion a data-driven, accountability-focused quality culture
Measure & Improve
- Track and report KPIs: First Pass Yield, COPQ, defect rates, CAPA status
- Analyze field/warranty data to prevent recurring issues
- Support lean initiatives without compromising custom craftsmanship
What You Bring
- 3–5 years in quality within custom or engineered manufacturing, plus leadership experience
- Background in fenestration, aluminum, glass, or building products
- Proven success building or improving a Quality Management System (QMS) and reducing defects/COPQ
Technical & Regulatory Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of AAMA, ASTM, and Florida Building Code (FBC) requirements
- Experience with NOA processes and NFRC standards
- Proficiency in SPC, FMEA, MSA (Gauge R&R) and quality tools
- Experience with ERP/MES systems (Odoo or similar) and Excel/Minitab
Preferred:
- ASQ certification (CQM/OE, CQE, SQE) and/or Six Sigma
- Engineering or technical degree
