General Purpose
The part-time attendant is responsible for working at the front desk and in the fitness area, keeping the facility clean, greeting customers, registering customers for programs, memberships, rentals and more and providing an enthusiastic, courteous and timely service to all patrons of The Timbers. Attendants may work in the concession stand and the tot room as well.
Supervision Received
Works under the general supervision of the Director of Parks and Recreation and other City supervisory staff, as directed.
Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations
Operate computer and cash drawer operations to include accurately collecting and depositing money. Makes change and issues receipts to customers.
Greets the public and answers questions, responds to inquiries from employees, customers and others and refers, when necessary, to appropriate staff. Exhibit enthusiasm for the facility and for the job. Exemplary customer service skills are expected.
Provides good customer service by being friendly, tactful, courteous and by maintaining an alert and professional posture at all times. Maintains an acceptable appearance at all times as to both dress and personal hygiene.
Maintain a current knowledge of all of the Timbers membership, program/event and rental information. Provide current and accurate information regarding Parks and Recreation programs, classes and special events. Register program participants, memberships and handles facility rental requests. Constantly updates oneself on new information and changes occurring throughout the facility.
Operates the telephone using proper etiquette at all times.
Arranges for tours of the facility as requested.
Performs proper opening and closing procedures.
Provide cleaning and basic maintenance to the equipment and in all areas of the facility.
Launders and folds towels.
Checks rental equipment in and out.
Assists other staff in completing various work projects as workload allows.
Receives member/guest complaints and comments responding in a sincere and pleasant manner, indicates an understanding of the problem and take necessary steps to correct it as soon as possible and reports problem to appropriate staff.
Knowledgeable of emergency procedures. Handles any emergency situation in a calm and professional manner.
Completes any necessary paperwork such as accident/incident reports and inventory.
Prevents accidents and allows for the enjoyment of all patrons through the fair and consistent enforcement of policies and rules governing the conduct of individuals using The Timbers.
Cooperatively works with other staff to ensure a professional and enjoyable work environment.
Arrive to work on time and when scheduled.
Performs other duties as requested or required.
Desired Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must be 16 years of age or older.
Experience in customer service preferred.
Ability to work a variety of shifts. Day and weekend availability is required.
Knowledge of and the ability to count money and make accurate change.
Ability to understand, carry out and give oral and written instructions and follow posted schedules.
Ability to work with minimal daily supervision.
Ability to learn and follow City policies.
Knowledge of fitness equipment and general knowledge of exercise.
Ability to perform child and adult CPR and first aid.
