What are the responsibilities and job description for the Global Events Lead (New York, Washington DC) position at Eurasia Group?
Eurasia Group works with a global client base to develop solutions that help businesses deal with geopolitical challenges in an uncertain world. As part of our efforts to expand our reach and influence at the intersection of politics and business, Eurasia Group successfully launched its flagship event in Japan several years ago, the GZERO Summit (www.gzerosummit.com). We are now seeking a Global Events Lead to expand upon that success globally with the creation and execution of industry-specific and regionally-focused events with dialogue platforms to discuss the global geopolitical agenda and to convene thought-leadership projects with partner organizations.
As Global Events Lead, you will be responsible for working closely with various corporate partners and key internal Eurasia Group stakeholders to conceive, coordinate, and execute such events that fit within the framework of broader Eurasia Group client initiatives. Responsibilities will range across three key areas: a) business development, sourcing, and idea generation, b) event coordination and execution (technology, team coordination and management, venues and logistics) and c) and content, programming and marketing.
Business development, sourcing, and idea generation:
- Bring energy, creativity and novel thinking to help create new ideas and business models for issues-focused global events.
- We’re looking for someone who can create new and innovative business models, but also with experience with what works (and doesn’t work) around events and how to generate revenue / ensure profitability.
- Works with business managers and clients to craft, develop, and execute events with a clear role / value proposition for clients.
- Manages the budget, develops pricing, and works across the firm to resource and plan for events.
- Keenly-focused on designing events for the audience and using audience benchmarks to measure success.
Event coordination and execution:
- Knows what is required to successfully execute large- and small-scale events from vision to logistics – content, booking, invitations, location and venue requirements, travel & logistics, AV and production, design, client management, marketing, post-event follow up.
- Oversees the master calendar, coordinates with key internal stakeholders on timing and management of a growing list of opportunities to ensure sufficient resourcing and editorial spread.
- Procures and manages appropriate external vendors (i.e. event management company) to ensure all operations and logistics of the events can be executed smoothly.
Content, programming and marketing:
- Help develop the vision & innovative programming for Eurasia Group & GZERO Media events globally: This includes program design, interactivity, and guest booking for in-person events, virtual events and hybrid events (sample list below):
- Climate Summit, Health Security Summit, Brazil Forum
- Livestream events
- Other in-person business events (dinners, cocktail events, etc.)
- Design event program that expands Eurasia Group’s influence, sparks interest from clients, sponsors and news media, and strikes an appropriate editorial and sponsor balance.
- Knowledge and savviness for inviting and securing renowned speakers and panelists in this space. Responsible for management of the guest booking process for events.
- Coordinates with communications team on media access, press invitations, and event promotion.
- Works with brand marketing manager on the design and messaging for invitations and confirmations to speakers and panelists, guests and participants. Helps in the messaging and design of program materials and the construction, navigation and design of any event-specific websites.
- Keenly-focused on programing for the target audience and mindful of financial, programmatic and diversity benchmarks.
Qualifications:
- 10 years of experience in strategic event management, preferably with exposure to public policy or international relations
- Highly organized, but flexible thinker to plan for contingencies
- Excellent time management, attention to detail and communication skills. Great team player.
- You will have at a minimum an undergraduate degree in a relevant field; a Master’s degree or MBA is preferred, but not required.
