Eugenio María de Hostos Charter School is a K-12 school, serving over 900 students. EMHCS offers a dual language program at the elementary campus. Summary of Position:
The school Assistant Principals reports to the Principal and is responsible for the administration and supervision of the academic programs that support the instructional program as well as providing instructional leadership and coordination for the High School. This position must exhibit understanding of High School curriculum, regents and graduation profile requirements for NYS.
Essential Functions:
- Assist the principal in providing for the safety and security of the personnel, buildings and the grounds.
- Is responsible for the instructional leadership of the programs under their supervision.
- Acts as an instructional leader.
- Collects, analyses, synthesizes, and distributes data to enhance teacher development, student performance and communication with stakeholders.
- Oversee functional areas as assigned by the principal.
- Builds collaborative relationship with faculty and staff.
- Collaborates with social emotional support function of the school to ensure student academic success.
- Helps Coordinate family and community involvement in a way that positively impacts the education mission of the school such as curriculum night and parent teacher conference.
- Accesses and develops professional knowledge to support the educational mission of the school.
- Assists in the implementation of staff development and in services activities for school based staff for programs under their supervision.
- Maintains appropriate records and completes required reports.
- Determines teacher schedules for assigned area and conducts departmental and accountability meetings.
- In conjunction with the principal, provides support for all building safety functions.
- Support teachers to create and sustain classroom management systems.
- Complete staff evaluation process.
- Performs related duties as assigned by principal or CEO.
- Plan and contributes to school accountability report, work-plan, and strategic plan.
- Attend meeting for school, and leadership meetings.

Education / Experiences:
- Master Degree
- Five (5) years of appropriate teaching experience
- New York State Teacher Certification
- Minimum of two (2) years of leadership experience as a teacher and/or school administrator
- New York State Certification for School Administration/Supervisor (SAS) or School Building Leader (SBL) preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
- Experience working at a High School
- Must have a working knowledge of computers and their capabilities
Physical Demands:
This position does require occasional standing, squatting frequent sitting and lifting of up to approximate 10lbs.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
