Introduction
Eugene Electric Bicycles is seeking to expand our service capability to better serve our community by adding a new member to our team of technicians. The ideal candidate has excellent manual dexterity, shows great attention to detail, and is able to work with various machines and tools while following all safety guidelines.
Please note that this is an entry-level position, and we are looking for individuals with a desire to learn and grow within our organization. Advancement is self-paced and compensation scales with advancement from $16 up to $30/hour.
The chosen candidate will receive on-the-job training from our experienced e-bike technicians and is expected to engage in self study on their own time using provided materials and resources. The first 90 days of employment will be under a probationary period. During this period, both the company and the employee will determine whether the employee can perform the requirements of the job they have been assigned to. Near the end of this probation, the company will assess employee training progress and performance in the form of a standard review.

Responsibilities
- Assist experienced technicians with building and repairing electric bicycles
- Help maintain a clean and organized workshop environment
- Effectively and professionally communicate with customers via phone, email, and in person
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
- Engage in self-study with provided learning materials and external resources
- Follow service schedule and keep logs of work
Learn how to:
- Install and configure bicycle parts and accessories
- Assemble e-bikes from box and prepare them for safety inspection
- Clearly explain services provided by our shop and manage customer expectations
- Identify customer needs and schedule service appointments accordingly
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on e-bikes
- Perform routine maintenance on e-bikes
By the end of the probationary period, display adequate knowledge in a number of topics, including:
- Shop Safety
- Shop Tools & Equipment
- Fundamental Physics
- Bicycle Systems
- Basic Electricity
- Electronics Troubleshooting

- 10:00am to 6:00pm
- Thursday through Sunday

Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Computer literacy
- Good communication skills and ability to work as a team
- Self motivated with the ability complete assigned tasks independently
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Mechanical aptitude
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills in mechanical and electronics maintenance

Physical Requirements
- Lift 50 lb unaided and up to 100 lb with another person
- Stand for 8 hours
- Walk, squat, kneel, and ride a bicycle

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of bicycles and their mechanical systems
- Shimano/SRAM/Trek Certification
- UBI Graduate
- Knowledge of basic electrical principles
- Technical and/or mechanical experience
- Organizational skills (both physical and digital)

Pay and Benefits
During 90 day probationary period:
- $16-$20 per hour
After 90 day probationary period:
- Opportunity for increase in pay based on performance up to $30 per hour.
