Confluent Kafka Admin with Unix**
Location: Fort Mill, SC – Hybrid role (3 Days/Week)
Duration: Long Term
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Confluent Cloud and Kafka team member to design / install / deploy / administer the platform.
- Provide 24x7 support when on call.
- Partner with architecture team to drive platform alignment to modern architecture practices.
- Patch, create Roadmaps, and assist junior engineers
- Build automation for install and platform management activities, such as restarts, patching, and other scenarios.

Requirements:
- 10 years in platform engineering and management involving Middleware technologies with a focus on Confluent Cloud and On Prem Kafka
- 10 years of experience with Installation, configuration and administration of Confluent Cloud or On Prem Kafka
- 8 years of experience with Installation, configuration and administration of Confluent Kafka Connect
- 12 years of experience with UNIX and LINUX operating systems, storage environments, file systems, and network protocols.
- 8 years of strong understanding of distributed systems using messaging platform
10 years of creating great documentation that enables other team members to learn and execute platform engineering and management activities.
Core Competencies:
Technical skills:
- 10 years’ experience in production support for Confluent or Kafka platform including troubleshooting and fixing production defects.
- 8 years applying DevSecOps and Infrastructure as Code patterns to build automation. Able and ready to learn and support other Middleware technologies in support of Platform Engineering roadmap with DevSecOps, infrastructure-as-code, software defined engineering patterns, and use of GitHub or comparable code repository.
- 5 years of experience with Ansible, Terraform, Puppet and other Infra automation technologies Possess a thorough understanding of modern work practices such as DevSecOps, Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), Agile project Delivery, Release Engineering.
Soft skills:
- Very good written and verbal communication skills. Should be able to create good documents.
- Preferring someone who takes end to end responsibilities of the issues and drives them to closure with minimal support and follow ups from the team.
- Understands change management importance/procedures.
- Should be a team player and ready to spread knowledge within the team.
