Full-Time Mentor, Ohio Reports to Market Manager

Position Summary

EFC Market is the retail face of Euclid Fish Company, a family-owned specialty seafood and protein purveyor serving Northeast Ohio since 1944. We're looking for a customer-focused Retail Market Associate who takes pride in the counter — someone who can guide shoppers to the right selection, keep the cases full and beautiful, and represent the quality our name has stood for across four generations.

This is a hands-on, full-time role that blends genuine customer service with product knowledge, merchandising, and light behind-the-scenes support. If you enjoy talking food, learning where great products come from, and helping people go home excited to cook, you'll fit right in.

What You'll Do

• Assist customers with seafood and protein selections, offering honest recommendations and answering questions with confidence.
• Promote daily and weekend specials, sharing what's fresh and helping customers discover new items.
• Explain preparation and cooking methods — offering ideas, tips, and pairings for seafood, specialty items, cheese, charcuterie, and fresh beef cuts.
• Keep the cases and displays neat, full, and appealing — restocking product and rotating for freshness throughout the day.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation across all areas of the retail market, from the counter to back-of-house.
• Operate the register accurately and handle transactions with care.
• Enter and price products correctly in our scale system.
• Follow all food safety regulations and handling standards without exception.
• Help manage and update the company's retail websites and online presence.
• Support the purchasing team with inventory — tracking counts, flagging needs, and helping keep stock levels on target.

What We're Looking For

• Retail experience, ideally in a seafood, meat, or deli environment.
• No allergies to seafood — this role involves regular contact with fish and shellfish.
• Strong communication skills and a real enthusiasm for food and helping customers.
• Ability to speak knowledgeably about seafood, specialty items, cheese, charcuterie, and fresh beef cuts — and to offer cooking ideas.
• Comfortable with computers, including entering products in a scale system and helping maintain company websites.
• Willingness to work with the purchasing team on inventory tasks.
• Dependable, tidy, and a good teammate who takes pride in a clean, well-run department.
