Job Description


This position is the Member Ambassador for the financial institution with the overall purpose of advising, qualifying, offering and facilitating the most appropriate use of the credit unions products and services for members in a comprehensive and efficient manner. This position will primarily work with members seeking to conduct business over the phone or online.

Effective execution of this position requires a thorough understanding of the members’ financial needs. It is necessary to fully understand and communicate all available options with respect to mortgage loans, consumer loans, credit cards, overdraft, share draft accounts, share savings, share certificates, IRAs, online/mobile app services, GAP, Debt Cancellation, Debt Protection, and mechanical breakdown payment protection products.


Major Duties and Responsibilities


  • Receives and screens both mortgage and consumer loan applications. Conducts the loan interview and secures the customer information necessary to initiate a loan transaction. Qualifies, structures and ensures that each approved application meets the credit union's lending standards. Reviews loan documents, closes, and funds loans in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Seeks referrals and responds to inquiries from members and prospective members regarding all types of loans and services. Follows-up with members and member referrals with respect to all products and services.
  • Networks and maintains relationships with members and others in the real estate community.
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
  • With a good understanding of all products/services and the member's current relationship, offers information on products and services that can benefit and enhance their credit union relationship. Evaluates needs of potential members and offers appropriate financial products and services.
  • Prepares and compiles the necessary member application and information for opening new accounts. Opens new accounts and educates the members as to services/products available as a result. (For example, Visa check card, online banking, automated teller, etc.)
  • Troubleshoots and resolves member inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Informs and advises members of status or enhancements to accounts. Suggests resolution on account disputes, delinquency and other account activity. Maintains and manages a loan portfolio within credit union standards, policies and procedures.



Experience


Experience with Conventional, Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Veterans Affairs (VA), Federal National Mortgage (Fannie Mae), construction loans, and bridge loans is preferred.


Education/Certifications/Licenses


High school degree or GED required. Required to maintain their registration active, and current, with the National Mortgage Licensing System throughout their employment.


Interpersonal Skills

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.


Other Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and advanced keyboarding and ten-key skills.

 M-F 9am-5:30pm with a 30 minutes lunch.
