Fund | Jr. ControllerETONIEN is sourcing for a dynamic and hands-on controller to support our fund and management client and its related entities in the South Bay/Silicon Beach (Los Angeles county) area.Individual contributor initially, with primary ownership of fund accounting, financial reporting, and tax coordination. Reports to the VP of Finance and works closely with managing partners. Expected to manage external vendors and help build out processes and, over time, potentially a small internal team.On-site (4–5 days per week)RequirementsKey ResponsibilitiesOwn day-to-day fund accounting and reporting processes for funds and related entitiesOversee and review work of external fund administrators, auditors, and tax advisorsManage monthly, quarterly, and annual close and reporting cyclesPrepare and/or review quarterly investor reports, capital account statements, and related schedulesReview quarterly and annual GAAP financial statements and disclosures and manage the audit processReview and validate management and performance fee calculations for consistency with fund documentsCoordinate information for regulatory and compliance filings as neededOversee cash flow projections and daily cash management, including capital calls and distributionsRespond to ad hoc requests from managing partners, investment professionals, and investors on time-sensitive mattersLead the compilation and review of information provided to tax advisors and help interpret tax results for internal stakeholdersMonitor fund expenses and allocations and review payments for compliance with fund documentsOwn the corporate card expense review and approval process and strengthen related controlsIdentify and implement process improvements in reporting, controls, and use of systems/toolsQualificationsApproximately 3–6 years of public accounting experience; Big 4 or large national firm strongly preferredStrong tax background with direct exposure to private equity funds, hedge funds, or other alternative investment vehiclesDirect experience in fund accounting, fund financial reporting, or portfolio reporting in public accounting, a fund administrator, or an asset managerCPA preferredStrong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP for investment funds and partnership/fund tax conceptsComfortable owning processes end-to-end in a lean environmentStrong Excel skills; proficient in Word and PowerPointAbility to work on-site in El Segundo 4–5 days per weekProven ability to manage multiple deadlines and external providers while supporting senior internal stakeholdersClear, concise communication; able to present issues and recommendations to senior leadershipHigh level of ownership, initiative, and reliability; strong control mindset and attention to detailStrong ethics and integrityWork AuthorizationLegally authorized to work in the United StatesU.S. citizen or permanent residentNo visa sponsorship availableWork AuthorizationLegally authorized to work in the United StatesU.S. citizen or permanent residentNo visa sponsorship availableCompensationWide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions. Exact compensation may vary based on factors including skills, experience, certification, license and location.
