The Construction Materials Testing Technician is responsible for working independently in evaluation, testing, sampling and/or inspection of construction materials and/or construction processes. The scope involves both field work and laboratory testing of soils and concrete.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform field materials testing of soil, asphalt, masonry and concrete
- Prepare detailed/accurate field reports on a daily basis
- Communicate with Project Managers, CMT Supervisors, contractors regarding construction issues
- Update Supervisor and Dispatcher on progress and delays on every project
- Communicate and coordinate with dispatcher for daily assignments
- Must follow and enforce all safety standards.
- Insures safe usage and maintenance of individually assigned company vehicle and field equipment.
- Performs laboratory testing as trained and assigned.
- Must be willing to travel around Houston and the surrounding area, and on occasion around Texas.
- Company Truck not provided, but mileage reimbursement is offered.
Qualifications/ Requirements:
- Must be punctual, reliable, and dependable
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Accuracy, attention to detail and timeliness with project results required
- Valid Texas Driver’s License (extra compensation for CDL) and must continue to maintain a safe driving record to fulfill travel requirements of this position
- Must be able to walk and stand continuously throughout the day
- Must be able to lift, carry, push up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
- Applicants must pass background investigation, drug screening and driving record
- Technicians utilize personal vehicle for work related activities and be compensated based on miles driven for work. A dependable vehicle for equipment and transportation is essential.
- Basic phone and computer skills: Microsoft Outlook
Education/Training/Experience:
- High school or GED certification is required.
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1 required.
- NICET Soils Level II, preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience a CMT technician is required.
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
