EthosEnergy is recruiting for an Operations and Maintenance Tech, (OMT) to join our team at DPC Elgin, a natural gas-fired generating station located in Elgin, Illinois consisting of four (4) Siemens 501D5A turbine generators. This position involves the operation and maintenance of combustion turbine generators and associated electric generation equipment. This position requires the ability to learn and perform as a multi-craft skilled technician and plant operator. The selected candidate must have the ability to learn basic electrical, instrumentation/control, and mechanical maintenance.
The approved hourly range for this role is $37.21 - $55.82 per hour based on experience and education. Successful candidates must have at least 2 years in a Power Plant Environment. Preference given to those with Large Frame Combustion Turbine Power Plant experience.

Job Responsibilities
- Performing various mechanical maintenance duties including predictive maintenance, replacement of filters, gaskets, valve packing, pump alignment, compressors, bearing repacking, and rigging
- Wiring and disconnection of motors, replacement of thermocouples and fuses, pulling wire, and performing electrical checks
- Operating and monitoring combustion turbines, 13.8 kV generators and electric generation balance of plant equipment, including start up and shut down of plant equipment
- Understanding NERC regulations and guidelines when operating combustion turbines
- Reading mechanical flow diagrams, electrical one-line and wiring diagrams
- Ordering parts and assisting with inventory control and maintenance
- Applying safe work practices and participating in the station's safety tagging (LOTO) and maintaining records
- Remove / install / calibrate / troubleshoot various Transmitters, Transducers, Meters, Relays, Switches, Instruments, Systems, Devices, etc.
- Safe and Proper use of Multi-Meters and Signal Sourcing devices, Deadweight Testers, Oscilloscope, line and Wire Tracers and other calibrators/devices, etc.
- Troubleshooting Electrical Problems - Switch Gear, Control Panels, Transformers, Relays, Motor Starters, Breakers, Control Wiring, etc.
- UPS Systems - Battery, charger systems, troubleshooting system, etc.
- Pneumatic and motor operated valve & actuator testing, rebuilding / repairing, etc.
- Utilizes CMMS to report and update all corrective & preventative maintenance.
- Maintains the cleanliness of all areas of the plant.
- Performs contractor oversite and ensures safe work practices are adhered to.
- Able to read P&IDs, location drawings, I/O lists, etc.
- Ability to learn and understand Siemens T3000 DCS, Turbine Control, PLC, other Control Systems and serial communications systems, including fiber optics
- Knowledge of, or previous exposure to electric generating equipment
- The ability to read and interpret mechanical flow diagrams and electrical wiring diagrams
- The ability to function as a member of a self-directed work team
- The ability to work day/evening shifts to accommodate plant operations schedules
- The ability to use a variety of tools to facilitate the repair and maintenance of equipment
- The ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to take general direction from the site Lead O&M Technician
- Required - At least 2 years in a Power Plant Environment; preferred – Large Frame Combustion Turbine Power Plant
- Power Plant Technical competence (understand software, hardware, networks, etc).
- Experience with utilizing a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- High school diploma or equivalent; preferred - an associate’s degree in Electronics Technology or Technical Trade School
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs., climb steps and ladders, work off scaffolding and in tight places.
- Must be able to work 12 hours, up to 7 days week when required and respond to call outs.
- Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant areas to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment.
- Outdoor conditions may run from very cold to hot and humid.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces, dust, grease & oil and be exposed to loud noise.
- Requires occasional travel and temporary assignment to sister facility in East Dundee, IL
- Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
- Will be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals.
