- Performs diagnostics and executes repairs on a wide array of control system hardware and software, with demonstrated expertise in PLCs, DCS, and telemetry. This includes comprehensive servicing of instrument loops and their associated field devices and transmitters.
- Executes systematic root cause analysis to diagnose and resolve complex failures across integrated mechanical, electrical, and operational systems, specializing in electrical apparatus such as transformers, relays, generator controls, and high-voltage distribution networks.
- Installation of new electrical equipment or supervision of, as required.
- Utilize proper use of electrical test equipment and other similar tools in order to troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Conducts equipment maintenance (with assistance as required), including cleaning, adjusting, tightening, and performing preventive or corrective maintenance.
- Utilize facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals to maintain and repair equipment, ensuring operation within specified ranges.
- Monitor critical plant parameters including temperature, vibration, pressure, level, voltage, current, and water chemistry to ensure optimal and safe operating conditions.
- Informs management of any unusual conditions and provides regular updates on job progress.
- Creates, submits, and closes preventative and corrective work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System in a thorough and timely fashion.
- Medium and high voltage switching of electrical systems, such as racking in and out of circuit breakers, opening and closing of disconnect switches.
- Perform routine electrical maintenance on low, medium and high voltage electrical systems to the extent qualified, or supervise a contractor as required.
- Perform routine electrical generator system tests and inspections to the extent qualified, or supervise a contractor as required.
- Implements management-approved capital projects, a process that includes conducting due diligence, submitting proposals, purchase orders and executing all related duties.
- Identify parts and labor for procurement subsequently creating and submitting purchase orders for approval.
- Reads, understands, and complies with all facility regulatory, environmental, health and safety procedures.
- Works overtime and/or irregular hours, including on-call duties, as required to ensure reliable facility operations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting reports, and coordinating with team members, contractors, and vendors.
- Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. Knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) preferred.
- North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards, particularly those related to critical infrastructure protection (CIP) for GO’s and GOP’s in power plant operations.
- Cybersecurity principles related to industrial control systems, including securing PLCs, DCS, and network-connected devices.
- Deploying and maintaining industrial automation networks leveraging communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, and DeviceNet.
- 40CFR Part 75 and Part 60 environmental regulations, as well as EPA Title V permits and other relevant environmental regulations.
- Battery chargers, inverters, battery management systems operation and maintenance.
- At least three (3) years of experience in power plants or similar industrial applications, Instrumentation & electrical knowledge is required, schooling or education is preferred, with the ability to demonstrate journeyman-level knowledge.
- Configuration and troubleshooting of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), ABB (800xA) DCS and/or Allen Bradley PLCs, in ladder logic, block diagrams, structured text or other PLC frameworks.
- Gas turbine control systems, such as Siemens FT125 or similar.
- Low, medium, and high voltage switchgear and transformers.
- Operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting CEMS systems Experience with CEMS DAHS systems running reports, reviewing data, and troubleshooting alarms and events.
- School diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree or bachelor’s degree in Industrial Electronics, Electronic Instrumentation, or equivalent engineering studies is preferred
- Instrumentation & Electrical school education preferred.
- Perform walking, reaching, climbing, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Work in environmental conditions that may include extreme temperatures, confined spaces, or at heights.
- The approved hourly rate for this position is $40 per hour - $60 per hour based on experience and education.
