Join EthosEnergy as a Maintenance Planner for the Apex Power Project, a 531 MW natural gas-fired facility in Clark County, Nevada. The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities for a combined cycle power plant consisting of gas turbines, heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), steam turbine/generator, and balance-of-plant systems. This role supports safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation by developing detailed work plans for routine maintenance, forced outages, planned outages, QAQC activities and capital improvement projects. The Maintenance Planner role will utilize engineering knowledge, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), and scheduling software to optimize workforce utilization, material readiness, and equipment reliability.
Successful candidates must have minimum 3–5 years' experience in maintenance or operations within a combined cycle power plant. Strong preference for those with BSME or equivalent experience, knowledge of outage planning for CT inspections and Steam Path outages as well as extensive background in plant operations and/or maintenance.
Job Responsibilities
- MAINTENANCE PLANNING & SCHEDULING
- Develop detailed job plans for preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance for gas turbines, HRSGs, steam turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems.
- Plan work packages including labor estimates, material requirements, special tools, safety precautions, and permit needs.
- Build and maintain weekly, monthly, and outage maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance Supervisors to prioritize work and ensure job readiness.
- Support day-to-day maintenance activities and emergency work planning. OUTAGE & CAPITAL PROJECT SUPPORT
- Plan for major maintenance outages including gas turbine inspections (CI, HGPI, MI), HRSG outages, and steam turbine outages.
- Develop outage scopes, schedules, and resource plans.
- Support capital projects such as equipment replacements, plant upgrades, and performance improvements.
- Track outage and project progress and assist with closeout documentation.
- Perform QAQC activities CMMS & SCHEDULING SYSTEMS
- Utilize CMMS (e.g., Maximo) to create and manage work orders and job plans, maintain equipment records and bills of materials, track labor, material, cost data, and maintain accurate preventive maintenance programs for combined cycle equipment.
- Use scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) to develop and track maintenance and outage schedules. TECHNICAL & ENGINEERING SUPPORT
- Support Operations and Maintenance troubleshooting.
- Apply mechanical and/or electrical engineering principles to develop efficient and safe maintenance plans.
- Review drawings, P&IDs, OEM manuals, and procedures to support work execution.
- Support engineering change implementation and field verification of modifications.
- Participate in root cause analysis and reliability improvement efforts related to turbines, HRSGs, and auxiliary systems. SAFETY & REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
- Integrate safety and environmental requirements into work plans, including Lockout/Tagout, Confined space, Hot work and lifting and rigging
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with OSHA regulations, plant safety policies, and applicable codes and standards. CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
- Improve planning quality, schedule compliance, and job plan effectiveness.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance optimization efforts.
- Participate in post-outage reviews and lessons learned.
Required Skills / Knowledge
- Mechanical, instrumentation and electrical equipment knowledge is required.
- Demonstrates knowledge of all facets of power plant operations.
- Ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of GE 7FA and GE D11 Turbine/Generators.
- Familiarity of ZLD plant equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical support systems for a combined cycle power plant.
- Strong skills in the use and application of CMMS in combined cycle power plants is required, Maximo preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in maintenance or operations. Engineering, or power generation experience preferred.
- Experience in combined cycle or gas turbine power plants is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with CMMS systems and scheduling software.
- Working knowledge of Gas turbines and auxiliaries, HRSG systems, Steam turbine/generator systems and balance-of-plant equipment (pumps, valves, cooling systems, electrical systems).
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and OEM manuals.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Education Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related technical discipline) or equivalent experience in the power industry.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, reach, climb, stoop and lift (up to 75 pounds), at times under extreme weather conditions.
- Office and field-based role in an industrial power plant environment.
- May require extended hours and shift flexibility during outages.
- Exposure to high noise areas, heat, rotating equipment, and high-voltage systems.
