At Ethos, we help/service AHMC hospitals on their revenue cycle objectives. The Medicare Government Representative is responsible for the accurate and timely billing, follow up, and collections of claims to government intermediaries and/or secondary payors. This position performs a variety of duties and responsibilities related to billing and collection for timely and accurate claim submission, resolution on non-payment of accounts, addressing billing questions, reviewing patient accounts, and follow-up. The Medicare Government Representative is expected to maximize cash flow, be familiar with current regulatory requirements, electronic and hard copy billing, and UB04 billing formats
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Responsible for assigned accounts and maintains a daily average of 80-100 claims.
- Reviews, corrects, and edits UB04 claim forms for electronic/hard copy claim submission in accordance with department billing policies and Medicare/CMS guidelines
- Communicates errors and/or missing information regarding patient's insurance, charges, coding, etc. to the corresponding departments, billing communication logs, identifies necessary corrections, and resubmits claims returned on electronic rejection reports daily.
- Reviews Direct Data Entry for returned, rejected, and denied claims
- Responsible for timely follow up of Medicare balances, including unpaid claims, review of underpayment, review of denials, and processing appeals.
- Abides by Ethos Management’s Code of Conduct and HIPAA compliance standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills &Knowledge Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of recent hospital insurance billing experience in an automated environment.
- Must be familiar with Medicare's Direct Data Entry system
- Knowledge of Medicare benefits and billing guidelines
- Knowledge of NCCI, LCD requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Understanding of CPT, ICD10, and HCPCS codes
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
