Job Description: As a SQL Server Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the availability and consistent performance of various corporate applications. This is a "hands-on" position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills
.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform database administration tasks including backups, restores, monitoring, query tuning, indexing, capacity management, patching, and future proofing
- Manage and maintain all aspects of SQL Server databases, including Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance
- Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security
- Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing problem resolution end-to-end
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
- Assist full-stack developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement
- Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours
- Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges
- Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and processes
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of database solutions
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator
- Certification in SQL Server (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Data Management and Analytics
- Strong experience with SQL Server (on-prem), Azure SQL Database, and Azure SQL Managed Instance
- Proficiency in database performance tuning and optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server, including Availability Groups
- Experience with Windows Server, including Active Directory
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skill
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
