Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position as a Field Manager, located in Rockaway, NJ. The Field Manager will oversee daily farm operations, including crop planning, planting, maintenance, and harvesting. The role involves managing staff and volunteers, ensuring sustainable farming practices, maintaining adherence to USDA Organic standards, and coordinating distribution and market sales. The Field Manager will also track farm production data, assist with local outreach, and collaborate on educational efforts, promoting the mission of sustainable, health-focused farming practices.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and experience in sustainable and organic farming practices, crop rotation, soil health, and pest management.
- Proficiency in staff management, team coordination, and volunteer supervision.
- Excellent organizational and data management skills, including inventory tracking and production reporting.
- Effective communication and customer interaction abilities to engage with the local community and represent the organization’s mission.
- Flexibility to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical farm labor as required.
- A degree in agriculture, environmental science, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Experience with educational or non-profit initiatives is a plus.
- Passion for sustainability, public health, and community-based farming.
