Role Description The Cook is a full-time, on-site role based in Eatonton, GA, responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, appealing meals for residents and staff in a long-term care environment. Day-to-day tasks include planning and preparing menu items following dietary guidelines, recipes, and portion control requirements, as well as ensuring meals meet residents’ nutritional needs and special diets (such as diabetic, low-sodium, or texture-modified diets). The Cook maintains a clean, safe kitchen by following food safety standards, proper storage procedures, and sanitation regulations, and assists with inventory management, including receiving, rotating, and organizing food supplies. This role collaborates with dietary staff and nursing teams to coordinate meal service times, supports residents with a respectful and customer-focused approach, and may help train or guide other kitchen staff as needed.

Qualifications
- Experience in institutional or healthcare food service, preferably in long-term care or a similar setting.
- Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation standards, and basic nutrition, including preparation of special diets.
- Ability to follow recipes, portion control guidelines, and menu plans with attention to detail and consistency.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple cooking and prep tasks during busy meal periods.
- Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with coworkers and residents.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry supplies, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; formal culinary or food service training is preferred.
- ServSafe or similar food safety certification, or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
