Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cable Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunication and network systems across various client sites. Your expertise will ensure seamless connectivity and optimal performance of fiber optic, Ethernet, telephony, and low-voltage cabling systems. Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic cables, Ethernet wiring, telephony systems, and low-voltage cabling in commercial and residential environments
- Perform fiber splicing with precision to ensure high-quality signal transmission
- Set up and configure network equipment including Cisco routers and switches to establish robust network connections
- Use hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, and ohmmeters to complete installations and diagnostics
- Conduct field service visits to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and optimize system performance
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including diagrams, test results, and service reports
- Follow safety protocols related to electrical work and telecommunication standards during all tasks
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician or cable installer within telecommunication or networking fields
- Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet wiring, network installation, and telephony systems
- Hands-on experience with fiber splicing techniques and mechanical knowledge of cabling infrastructure
- Familiarity with Cisco routers, switches, and basic network configuration procedures
- Ability to operate hand tools effectively and safely in various field environments
- Electrical experience with low-voltage systems and troubleshooting using tools like ohmmeters
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on quality workmanship in a fast-paced setting
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred
