WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
A Drafter is responsible for creating accurate technical drawings and plans based on field notes, engineering data, and design specifications. They interpret right of way, easements, and other land-use data to produce preliminary layouts and construction-ready documents. Drafters work closely with project managers, engineers, and drafting leads to ensure that all plans meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and project timelines.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
- Understands and executes all steps in the preliminary and final drafting processes.
- Interprets Right-of-Way (ROW) and easement documents accurately to inform project layouts.
- Applies field notes directly to prints to create construction-ready drawings.
- Prepares and completes schematic drawings, 811 drawings, rake-off sheets, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Manages larger or time-sensitive projects, meeting strict deadlines without sacrificing quality.
- Maintains a minimum QC accuracy score of 85%–90% on all submitted drawings.
- Accepts and incorporates feedback from QC and leadership, making revisions as needed and learning from corrections.
- Collaborates closely with Managers to resolve design questions and ensure consistency across projects.
- Provides guidance and support to other drafters to promote knowledge sharing and team development.
- Has a full understanding of the final deliverable and the processes required to achieve it.
WHAT WILL HELP YOU STAND OUT
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License
- Strong attention to detail
- 6 months prior drafting experience preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration
- Receptive to feedback
- Consistently high-quality control scores
- Proficient in industry software
- Proactively involved in problem solving and suggesting improvements
