eTel is seeking a Junior Java API Developer. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career developer (1–2 years of experience) to gain hands-on experience building, maintaining, and enhancing APIs within a highly structured federal environment.
You will work closely with senior engineers and federal stakeholders to develop Java-based backend services, support API development and integration efforts, and ensure compliance with federal security standards. This position requires working onsite 2–3 days per week at the Farmers Branch office in Dallas, Texas.

- Participate in code reviews and follow standard coding practices.
- Work with Git for version control and support CI/CD processes as needed.
- Support basic troubleshooting, debugging, and issue resolution for API services.
- Follow federal security guidelines, development standards, and internal best practices.
- Collaborate with senior developers, testers, and project teams in an Agile environment.
- Assist with basic containerized application deployments using tools such as Docker or Kubernetes (training/support will be provided).
- 1–2 years of hands-on Java development experience.
- Basic understanding of building and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Experience with tools like Swagger/OpenAPI for API documentation.
- Familiarity with Git and understanding of basic CI/CD concepts.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming, design principles, and best practices.
- Ability to work in a hybrid onsite environment in Dallas, Texas.
- Strong willingness to learn federal standards, security requirements, and API development processes.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain an MBI clearance.
- Exposure to Docker or Kubernetes (academic, project, or work experience).
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
- Any exposure to API gateways (e.g., Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway).
- Experience working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL).
- Prior experience with federal agencies is a plus (not required).
- Strong willingness to learn and grow in a federal technical environment.
