Job Summary
Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring for Federal Work Study (FWS) positions to work as an America Reads tutor for the Read Better Be Better (RBBB) Program. The RBBB Program supports literacy development and mentorship initiatives for children and families. This position assists with program facilitation, student engagement, and administrative tasks while promoting reading skills, academic confidence, and community involvement. The role provides meaningful professional experience in education, youth development, and nonprofit program support.

Essential Functions
75%- Facilitate RBBB literacy activities included in the curriculum for the duration of each program session while ensuring all RBBB materials and procedures are followed. Guide and support program participants of various elementary grade levels.
25%- Effectively communicate program successes and challenges to the Program Coordinator. Attend weekly meetings and any mandatory meetings and training sessions at RBBB headquarters. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and purpose of the position
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Desired Qualifications
- Experience or demonstrated interest in working with elementary-aged children in an educational setting.
- The ability to communicate effectively with young children.
- Prior experience as a tutor, particularly with elementary-aged children.
Special Working Conditions
Read Better Be Better (RBBB) Orientation and Program Training(s) will be provided prior to being placed at a program site.
This position will work off-site at a public school in the West Valley and best efforts will be made to place you at a school that is conveniently located based on your location.
Valid IVP fingerprint clearance card (or the ability to obtain one before starting). RBBB provides guidance on completing the AZDPS application and fingerprinting process and can cover associated fees upfront or via reimbursement. Successful completion of an AZDCS Central Registry Check is also required.

In order to qualify for a Federal Work-Study (FWS) job, a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be on file for the current award year and have eligible financial needs based on the college requirements. Please contact the EMCC Financial Aid Office for more information prior to applying to a Federal Work-Study job.
FWS is a need-based, federally funded program.
FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program.
