POSITION SUMMARY

This part-time position performs a wide variety of routine and general cashier duties, office support and customer service activities at the Estes Valley Community Center (EVCC). Performs functions typically under the supervision of or in support of other administrative positions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the facility front desk operations by performing customer service and reception duties for the EVCC
  • Provide general and routine information, direct callers and visitors to appropriate department or person, and take written messages
  • Answer and direct telephone calls, and assist with dispatching service calls and personnel
  • Assist with class registrations, sell/issue guest passes and merchandise, calculate and collect fees, and facilitate and schedule EVCC room rentals
  • Monitor cash handling procedures and ensure compliance
  • Enter new memberships and registrations into computer system, and proof entered data
  • Prepare packets of information including stapling, and copying in accordance with specific instruction, distribute packets to appropriate persons including mass mailings
  • Operate routine office equipment to support operations of the department/division including copiers, fax machines, telephone systems, and computers
  • Responsible for on-site communications to patrons about District events, and provide a variety of general information to the public regarding EVCC and parks and recreation operations and programs
  • Interact with internal and external customers on a daily basis; includes responding to customer inquiries, as well as proactive, courteous and friendly interactions with customers in support of patron loyalty and retention initiatives

OTHER DUTIES

  • Assist in resolving concerns and complaints from staff or the general public
  • Receive, sort, and process incoming or outgoing mail; distribute mail to office personnel
  • Perform errands or other general assistance in support of a department/division and its personnel
  • Recognize and report unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries
  • Establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers
  • Obey and comply with all EVRPD, Local, State, and Federal ordinances and policies
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary or assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, ability to multi-task in a busy office setting, and the ability to provide professional customer service to clients and public
  • Operate standard office equipment including a computer, calculator, fax, and copier
  • Simple arithmetic calculations including subtraction, addition, multiplication, and division
  • EVCC registration/tracking software
  • Modern office practices and procedures
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Read and comprehend EVRPD and EVCC rules, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures
  • Follow written and verbal instructions
  • Maintain positive communications and effective working relationships with District employees, vendors, contractors, community organizations, and members of the community
  • Maintain sensitive and confidential information
  • Effectively respond to conflict situations
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Required:
  • Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age
  • Preferred:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities within an office or customer service environment
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification or the ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Majority of work is in a busy reception area setting, with moderate noise and frequent interruptions
  • Position deals with customers in person and via phone, on a regular basis
  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and wet and/or humid aquatic area conditions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Work regularly requires sitting, speaking, hearing, and requires standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms, and the ability to bend, stoop, stretch, reach, carry, grasp and turn objects; and occasionally lifting and/or occasionally moving up to 25 pounds
  • Regularly required to use dexterity of hands and fingers to finger, handle, grasp and feel.
  • Required to talk, hear, smell, maintain physical balance and physical control
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and observe general surroundings and activities

This position is subject to EVRPD’s pre-employment screening requirements including, but not limited to:
  • Criminal, National Sex Offender and Motor Vehicle background checks
