Summary : Sleep lab technologist provides care for patients undergoing sleep studies and sleep disorder treatment.
Duties : The sleep lab technologist will prepare for the arrival of the patient by setting up equipment for the ordered test. Interview the patient to determine any sleep issues and explain the testing procedures to the patient. Perform ordered test as well as any additional testing that may be needed. Educates patients about test results, sleep disorders, community support groups, and available resources. Prepare, calibrate, repair, and maintain equipment required for testing. Determines and reports needed repairs and replacements. Score, interpret, and report results of sleep studies. Recognizes, documents, and reports all unusual patient response to treatment or testing. Consistently follow all department policies and procedures. All other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
2 years of experience
High School Diploma / GED
Required Licensure / Certification : Registered as a Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) or equivalent.
