- Manage and optimize a number of terminals within a specific district to ensure all staffing, equipment and operational enhancements and requirements are completed to ensure profitability and strengthen customer relations
- Lead, guide and direct Terminal Managers to include setting targets, monitoring performance, providing coaching, counseling and development. Conduct meetings with all employees to keep them up to date with pertinent changes within Estes and the trucking industry
- Responsible for all hiring, training and terminations; assuring all paperwork is processed according to proper Company guidelines with appropriate levels of follow up with management on timely task completion
- Enforce understanding and compliance with all Company policies and procedures; safety rules and government regulations
- Develop and deliver internal and external strategies to provide superior service to Estes’ customers. Implement, analyze and monitor to ensure revenue, service goals, expenses, profits, budgets, and internal/external obligations with Estes’ business partners are met
- Accountable for meeting aggressive targets for revenue growth and profit attainment, as well as meeting corporate key performance goals
- Provide research, analyses, reporting and solution implementations for continuous improvements and share with key stakeholders as appropriate
- Resolve issues escalated internally and externally with Estes business partners to ensure timely resolution; maintenance and enhancement of positive working relationships
- Stay current regarding Estes’ operational goals, resource planning, new terminal set up requirements, staffing and equipment needs and business opportunities
- Drive operational excellence and best practices utilizing metrics (e.g., labor costs, costs per bill, claims and exceptions, etc.), forecasting, engineering tools, cost/benefit analysis for capital investments in equipment management, resource planning and leadership development
- Directly investigate the source of customer complaints and respond accordingly to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement opportunities
- Maintain an effective working relationship with other departments such as Safety, Sales, Claims, Loss Prevention, Customer Care, Human Resources and Fleet Services
- Act as Company's representative before government agencies or legal representatives, working closely with Human Resources
- A minimum of 50% travel required
- Regular attendance is required.

- High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED), or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Bachelor Degree preferred
- A minimum of five years management experience in the LTL industry is required
- Must have good computer skills (AS400 and MS Office a plus)
- Proven leadership, team building and interpersonal relationship skills
- Must have strong leadership skills including the ability to hire, coach, counsel, train, mentor and terminate employees
- Possess excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills
- Excellent planning and organization skills
- Must have a strong work ethic and good problem solving skills
- Must be able to lift approximately 20 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the job
- Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct
- Must be able to interact well with others
- Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting
- Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities
- Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
