Position Summary

The Convenience Store Cashier is responsible for providing friendly, efficient customer service while accurately processing sales transactions and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-stocked store. This position serves as a key point of contact for customers and helps ensure a positive experience at Estepp's Shell.

Essential Responsibilities

• Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Accurately operate the cash register and process cash, credit/debit, and other forms of payment.
• Handle cash responsibly and maintain accurate cash drawer balances.
• Assist customers with questions regarding products, pricing, promotions, and store services.
• Stock shelves, coolers, displays, and other merchandise as needed.
• Maintain clean and organized sales floors, checkout areas, restrooms, and other assigned areas.
• Monitor product freshness, expiration dates, and overall merchandise presentation.
• Prepare and serve food and beverages according to company standards, when applicable.
• Follow all company policies and procedures related to safety, security, age-restricted sales, and cash handling.
• Verify identification when required for the sale of age-restricted products.
• Assist with fuel-related customer needs and other store services as assigned.
• Report spills, equipment issues, safety concerns, or suspicious activity to management.
• Perform opening, closing, cleaning, and other assigned duties as needed.
• Work cooperatively with coworkers and management to maintain smooth store operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous retail, cashier, convenience store, or customer service experience preferred but not required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to accurately handle cash and operate a point-of-sale system.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Ability to remain professional and courteous in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift merchandise as required.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Employees are expected to provide every customer with a friendly, respectful, and professional experience. Cashiers should maintain a positive attitude, keep the store presentable, and address customer needs promptly while following all Estepp's Shell policies and procedures.

Work Environment

This position is performed in a fast-paced convenience store environment with frequent customer interaction. Employees may work around fuel pumps, food-service equipment, coolers, cleaning products, and other retail equipment and are expected to follow all applicable safety procedures.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
