Position Summary
eStem High School is seeking an outstanding educator and leader to serve as our Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach and Physical Education/Health Teacher. This individual will provide leadership for the entire boys basketball program while delivering high-quality instruction in Physical Education and Health courses. The ideal candidate is passionate about developing student-athletes both academically and athletically and is committed to building a championship culture grounded in character, accountability, and excellence.
The Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the high school boys basketball program, including program vision, player development, staff leadership, practice planning, game preparation, offseason development, community engagement, and program administration. This individual will also collaborate with middle school coaches to establish a consistent philosophy that promotes long-term success throughout the program.
As a classroom teacher, the successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging, rigorous, and standards-based instruction in Physical Education and Health while fostering a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. Teachers monitor student progress, utilize assessment data to inform instructional decisions, differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, and provide timely feedback to students and families.
The Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach/Teacher collaborates with administrators, athletic department staff, teachers, families, and community stakeholders to support student success while representing eStem High School with professionalism and integrity.
Athletic Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of the eStem High School Boys Basketball program.
- Develop and implement a clear vision and philosophy for the program aligned with the mission of eStem Public Charter Schools.
- Plan and conduct organized, competitive, and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Develop comprehensive offseason, preseason, and in-season player development programs.
- Recruit, mentor, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches while promoting a unified coaching philosophy.
- Build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, officials, opposing schools, and community members.
- Promote academic excellence, sportsmanship, leadership, and character development among student-athletes.
- Ensure compliance with Arkansas Activities Association (AAA), conference, district, and school policies.
- Assist with scheduling, transportation planning, equipment inventory, budgeting, fundraising, and program operations.
- Collaborate with middle school basketball coaches to create a seamless K-12 player development model.
- Support athletic department initiatives and contribute positively to the overall culture of eStem Athletics.
Teaching Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based Physical Education and Health instruction.
- Create an inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, safety, and achievement.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Monitor student progress and use data to inform instructional decisions.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues regarding academic progress.
- Participate in professional learning communities, faculty meetings, and school initiatives.
- Support school-wide expectations and contribute to a positive campus culture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Arkansas teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain certification) preferred.
- Successful high school varsity basketball coaching experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience developing student-athletes both on and off the court.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Commitment to academic excellence, character development, and education-based athletics.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders.
