Responsibilities
- Thoroughly wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment using proper dishwashing techniques and sanitizing procedures
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping, slicing, and assembling ingredients following food safety guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen surfaces, floors, and storage areas to ensure compliance with sanitation standards
- Support bussing duties by clearing tables and transporting used dishware to the dishwashing station efficiently
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly, including dishwashers, sinks, and food prep tools
- Handle manual tasks such as lifting heavy pots, trays, and boxes while adhering to proper lifting techniques to prevent injury
- Follow all food handling protocols to ensure safe storage, labeling, and disposal of ingredients and waste
Skills
- Experience in food service or restaurant environments with a strong understanding of kitchen operations
- Knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures and sanitation standards in commercial kitchens
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting and prolonged standing
- Familiarity with operating basic kitchen equipment such as dishwashers and prep tools
- Basic knife skills for assisting with food prep activities
- Understanding of kitchen health and safety standards to maintain a safe working environment
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to cleanliness and detail in all tasks
