We are seeking Sr. Business Analysts for 2 remote positions anywhere in Texas; may need to attend meetings in Austin with our Austin, Texas client.
All candidates must be located in Texas; we will reject all others.
Performing advanced, senior-level business analysis work. These BA's will be involved in Business process re-engineering and software process flow improvement, as well as User experience at some level throughout the entire software development life cycle. Once the requirements baseline is established, the focus shifts to managing the requirements specification and verifying fulfillment of all requirements, including post-implementation enhancements.
Essential Functions:
Elicitation - Elicits requirements using joint application development (JAD), requirements workshops, interviews, document analysis, storyboards, surveys, site visits, use cases, scenarios, competitive product analysis, and task and workflow analysis.
Analysis - Uses sophisticated analysis techniques to identify user needs, business processes, pain points, and computer system capabilities to automate or improve existing systems.
Requirements Writing - Transforms information from elicitation sessions into business requirements and functional requirements, use cases, user stories, and software requirements specification documents. Use standard templates and simple, unambiguous, and concise natural language.
Visual Output - Visually transforms information from elicitation sessions into process flows, context diagrams, UML diagrams, wireframes, and mockups.
Managing Work - Uses initiative and independent judgment to actively participate in the software development lifecycle, including managing deadlines, following change control procedures, tracking requirement status, coordinating UAT, and maintaining requirement traceability.
Requirements:
Yrs Experience
8 Experience eliciting requirements from interviews with customers and creating well-written system requirements
8 Experience with software development life cycles (SDLCs)
8 Business process re-engineering and software process flow improvement experience
8 Experience developing user stories and using cases that conform to business analysis best practices
8 Experience designing mockups and/or wireframes that conform to UX best practices
8 Demonstrated strong communication and facilitation skills
8 Demonstrated strong writing and organization skills
4 Documented work experience with the issue tracking software "Atlassian Jira"
4 Documented experiences working for or closely with a federal/state/local education agency OR ed vendor
Preferred
3 Documented work experience with the requirements management software "Modern Requirements"
2 Experience supporting complaint and case management workflows, including intake, investigation, and resolution
2 Experience with educator certification process, federal/state grant programs, or state funding program
