The Estacada School District is seeking a dynamic Paraeducator - Library Media Support to oversee our library operations at Estacada Middle School. This position will start in August, 2026.
Current Estacada Schools employees eligible only. Paraeducator experience preferred. 35 hours per week.
The Paraeducator Media Specialist is responsible for operating the school library/media center; maintains a quality facility to support student learning and literacy development; and provides a welcoming, well-organized, smoothly functioning environment that treats students with respect and patience and allows students, teachers, and staff to fully utilize resources and services. This position requires an independent self starter that has a passion for helping all students be resourceful and successful.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent, and an Associates Degree, or 72-hours of college coursework or Instructional Assistant Certificate (Work Keys, Praxis, Paraeducator Assessment-title I) are required to perform the responsibilities of the position.
- Possess the knowledge of basic library/media methods, practices and terminology, and procedures
- Provide basic instruction and guidance to students using library resources, including educational computer hardware and software
- Ability to operate a computer terminal to input and retrieve data
- Be self-directed and perform duties for extended periods of time
- Broad knowledge of the concepts and vocabulary of the language arts and/or specialized subject area
- Must have computer skills including Google suites, Office suites
- Working knowledge of the basic elements of the teaching process
- Demonstrate aptitudes indicating the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills to the instruction of all students particularly as they relate to teaching strategies for students supported by special education
- Willingness and capacity to work with students who may be physically impaired, have learning challenges, including social/emotional lagging skills.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or equivalent or willing to obtain (district provided) within 6 months of employment
- Participate in and meet expectation of the Estacada School District’s paraeducator training programs
- Demonstrate a growth mindset and desire to learn and apply new skills through professional development, collaboration and working with other dedicated professional educators.
- Must have a positive, student first, ‘can do’ attitude.
- High level of expertise with technology used to perform a variety of tasks.
- Must pass Fingerprint-based Criminal Background check that will be required at employee’s expense upon offer of employment.
- Successful passage of a physical examination including drug screen at district expense is required.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Up to 190 day position / up to 8 hours per day; currently scheduled for 35 hours per week. Member of the Classified Union. Salary and placement will be in accordance with the Classified Agreement's salary schedule Grade F (DOE). Negotiating for 2026/2027. Benefits are available for this position.
