Mechanical Assembler (Travel Required)
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to build, assemble, install, and service custom industrial automation equipment used in manufacturing environments. This position requires a mechanically inclined individual who enjoys hands-on work and is willing to travel for customer equipment installations, start-ups, service calls, and repairs. Travel may include overnight stays and occasional extended trips based on customer needs. The company designs and manufactures automated equipment for industrial production lines and provides installation and service support throughout North America and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble custom machinery and automation equipment from mechanical drawings and blueprints.
- Install mechanical components including conveyors, frames, pneumatic systems, bearings, shafts, motors, and machine assemblies.
- Perform equipment installations, start-ups, repairs, and preventative maintenance at customer facilities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during assembly and field service.
- Read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, schematics, and bills of materials.
- Use precision measuring tools and standard hand and power tools.
- Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure equipment is built to specification.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Complete service documentation and communicate professionally with customers while on-site.
Qualifications
- 2 years of mechanical assembly, industrial maintenance, machine building, or related manufacturing experience.
- Ability to read mechanical blueprints and assembly drawings.
- Experience with pneumatics, bearings, gearboxes, motors, conveyors, or industrial machinery preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel for equipment installations and service calls, including overnight travel as needed.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills while representing the company at customer sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building custom machinery or automated manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Forklift, overhead crane, or rigging experience is a plus.
- Basic understanding of electrical components and machine operation is beneficial.
