Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily coffee shop operations and ensure efficient service.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise baristas and café team members.
- Ensure coffee, espresso, tea, and specialty beverages meet quality standards.
- Monitor beverage preparation, presentation, consistency, and service times.
- Provide friendly customer service and address guest concerns professionally.
- Coordinate staff responsibilities and workflow during busy service periods.
- Manage inventory, supply ordering, stock rotation, and product availability.
- Monitor sales performance, operating expenses, and product waste.
- Oversee cash handling, POS procedures, and accurate transaction records.
- Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary coffee preparation and dining areas.
- Monitor coffee machines, grinders, refrigerators, and other café equipment.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and workplace safety procedures.
- Develop employee training practices and maintain consistent service standards.
- Prepare operational reports and communicate performance updates to management.
- Coordinate opening, closing, and other daily management activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; hospitality or business education is an asset.
- Previous coffee shop, café, restaurant, or hospitality experience.
- Previous supervisory or management experience is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of coffee preparation, beverage service, and customer care.
- Ability to manage employees, inventory, and multiple operational priorities.
- Basic computer, POS, scheduling, and recordkeeping skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays when required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience managing a coffee shop or specialty café.
- Knowledge of espresso extraction, coffee brewing, and specialty beverages.
- Familiarity with inventory management, purchasing, and cost control.
- Strong staff coaching, training, and performance management abilities.
- Experience with café POS systems and sales reporting.
- Excellent customer service and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to improve service efficiency while maintaining beverage quality.
