POSTING TITLE: Special Education Teacher

LOCATION: Verellen Elementary

HOURS: Part-time (15 hours per week, schedule to be determined)

POSITION START DATE: January 5, 2026

This position is for the remainder of the school year and ends on June 30, 2026.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Michigan Teaching Certificate and meet Highly Qualified standards for special education
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning
  • Work with, understand, and implement Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) including a special focus on early interventions
  • Work with or understand Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS)
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies
  • Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds
  • The primary job goal for this position is to plan and implement instruction in both co-teacher and self-contained classrooms
  • Serve as a case manager, ensure all IEP processes and documentation are compliant with local, state, and federal guidelines
  • Collaborate effectively with general education teachers, support staff, administration,
  • ISD, and families
  • Have an unwavering commitment to believing that all students can learn
  • Have an unwavering commitment to positively engaging families in the education process
  • Coordinates with outside agencies, organizations and institutions, including state and federal authorities as needed
  • May require personal transportation to travel between the two elementary schools
  • Special education grade level assignments may change in the future depending on special education needs across the district.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

SALARY: Per collective bargaining agreement with the Essexville-Hampton Education Association.

DEADLINE: Friday, December 5, 2025 or until filled

Pay: $21, $43,980.00 per year
