Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Buyer to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the purchasing process, ensuring that materials and products are acquired efficiently and cost-effectively. This position requires a strong understanding of supply chain management and materials management, as well as the ability to negotiate contracts and collaborate with various departments to meet production needs. Having a manufacturing background will be a great asset in this position and any kind of manufacturing/building experience should be communicated through the resume.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the procurement process by evaluating suppliers
- Utilize our own ERP system to manage inventory levels and forecast purchasing needs.
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand material requirements and ensure timely delivery.
- Analyze pricing structures and market trends to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information
- Support the team in developing strategies for cost reduction and supplier performance improvement.
- Participate in vendor evaluations and assist in establishing long-term relationships with key suppliers.
Experience
- Previous experience in a steel purchasing or procurement role is required.
- Familiarity with contract negotiation processes and materials management principles.
- Manufacturing experience is required.
- Attention to detail is a must.
- Strong time management skills is required.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess pricing and procurement strategies effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate collaboration across departments.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
