About the role
We are seeking an experienced Business Development professional for our group firm - Astra Asset Management, to lead capital raising efforts across both tax-exempt and taxable investment fund structures. This individual will serve as a primary point of contact for Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) and accredited investors, driving AUM growth through relationship development, investor outreach, and strategic positioning of our fund offerings.
Key responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end fundraising initiatives for tax-exempt funds (pension plans, endowments, foundations, government entities) and taxable fund structures
- Identify, qualify, and cultivate relationships with QIBs and accredited investors including family offices, RIAs, institutional allocators, and high-net-worth individuals
- Develop and execute targeted investor outreach strategies, including roadshows, one-on-one meetings, and conference participation
- Partner with portfolio management and legal teams to craft compelling investor presentations and fund documentation
- Manage the full investor lifecycle from prospecting through closing and ongoing client stewardship
- Maintain a robust CRM pipeline and provide regular reporting on capital raising activity and investor sentiment
- Ensure all activities are conducted in full compliance with applicable securities laws (including Regulation D, Rule 144A, and other exemptions)
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in institutional capital raising or investment sales, with a proven track record of closing commitments from QIBs and accredited investors
- Deep understanding of tax-exempt investor categories (ERISA plans, endowments, foundations, sovereign wealth) and their investment mandates and constraints
- Familiarity with both taxable and tax-advantaged fund structures including hedge funds, private equity, and commingled vehicles
- Strong knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks (Reg D, Rule 144A, Investment Advisers Act)
- Series 7 and/or Series 63/65 licenses may be required; CAIA or CFA designation a plus
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills; ability to articulate complex investment strategies clearly
- Existing network of institutional and accredited investor relationships strongly preferred
