What You'll Do

As our Dietary Services Manager, you'll oversee the daily operations of our dietary department, ensuring residents receive nutritious, appetizing meals while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and customer service.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

• Lead & Inspire: Recruit, train, supervise, and support dietary team members while promoting a positive, collaborative work environment.

• Deliver Exceptional Dining Experiences: Oversee meal preparation, presentation, and service to ensure residents enjoy nutritious, high-quality meals.

• Plan Nutritious Menus: Collaborate with the Consultant Dietitian to develop and implement balanced menus that accommodate residents' nutritional needs, preferences, and therapeutic diets.

• Maintain Regulatory Compliance: Ensure dietary operations meet all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention standards.

• Manage Department Operations: Oversee food purchasing, inventory, supply management, staffing schedules, and departmental budgets.

• Support Resident-Centered Care: Work closely with nursing, dietary professionals, and other departments to address residents' nutritional needs and dining preferences.

• Monitor Quality & Safety: Maintain high standards for food quality, portion control, temperature, presentation, and cleanliness.

• Maintain Accurate Records: Ensure proper documentation of purchasing, expenses, inventory, staffing, dietary assessments, and required reports.

• Promote Team Development: Conduct staff training, in-service education, performance evaluations, and ongoing coaching.

• Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance dining services, improve efficiency, and increase resident satisfaction.

• Create Memorable Moments: Assist with special events, holiday meals, and resident activities involving the dietary department.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Successful completion of an approved Food Management Course.

• Previous experience in food service management, preferably in a skilled nursing, rehabilitation, healthcare, or senior living environment.

• Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and dietary regulations.

• Knowledge of therapeutic diets, nutritional requirements, and food preparation standards.

• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and team-building abilities.

• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

• Basic computer proficiency and experience maintaining departmental records.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or Certified Food Service Manager (CFSM) certification.

• Previous supervisory or management experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility.

• Experience with menu planning, food purchasing, inventory management, and budgeting.

• Familiarity with federal and Virginia regulations governing dietary services in long-term care facilities.
