Pastry Chef / Pastry Production Chef – Italian Eatery
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced, fast, organized, and highly responsible Pastry Chef / Pastry Production Chef to take full responsibility for the daily pastry and dessert production of our Italian restaurant.
This position is responsible for planning, preparing, and executing the complete production of our cakes, pastries, creams, desserts, and other pastry items. The ideal candidate must be able to work quickly and efficiently while maintaining excellent quality, consistency, presentation, and strict production deadlines.
The person hired will be responsible for managing the pastry production workflow from preparation and mise en place through final assembly, decoration, storage, and readiness for service.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for the restaurant's daily pastry and dessert production.
- Plan and organize production according to restaurant needs, reservations, sales volume, and upcoming service.
- Prepare cakes, pastries, desserts, creams, fillings, doughs, sauces, and other pastry products according to established recipes and standards.
- Ensure all production is completed on time and in the required quantities.
- Work quickly and efficiently while maintaining consistent quality and presentation.
- Organize daily mise en place and prioritize production tasks according to deadlines.
- Accurately weigh and measure all ingredients and follow recipes precisely.
- Prepare, bake, cool, assemble, decorate, portion, and properly store finished products.
- Maintain consistency in flavor, texture, portion size, appearance, and presentation.
- Prepare desserts and pastry items in advance to ensure the kitchen is fully stocked for service.
- Monitor inventory and communicate ingredient and production needs in advance.
- Properly label, date, store, and rotate ingredients and finished products.
- Maintain an organized production schedule and avoid delays or shortages during service.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary pastry workstation at all times.
- Properly clean and maintain all pastry equipment, tools, and work areas.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and allergen-handling procedures.
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism, organization, speed, and attention to detail.
- Work independently and take ownership of the pastry department and its daily production.
Requirements
- Previous professional pastry, bakery, or restaurant pastry experience required.
- Experience producing cakes, pastries, creams, desserts, and other pastry products in a professional kitchen.
- Strong understanding of baking techniques, pastry production, and kitchen equipment.
- Ability to follow recipes and measurements accurately and consistently.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work fast and efficiently under pressure without sacrificing quality.
- Ability to manage multiple production tasks and prioritize deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and presentation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable, responsible, and punctual.
- Strong work ethic and a professional attitude.
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the production process.
- Food Handler Certification preferred.

Compensation
- $XX/hour, depending on experience.

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
