Registered Nurse – TEMPORARY POSITION – Disaster Shelter Support

Location: Georgia, (City TBD)

*Active Georgia RN License or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact Required*

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing services for on-site clinic health units/shelters or events for rapid deployments to support only during emergency and disaster efforts. This is a Temporary Position as Needed, and the length of the assignment may vary based on operational needs and client requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical services at the scope and level of a Registered Nurse to preserve the health of employees and client personnel.
  • Systematically assess the urgent or emergent health needs of patients, analyze data, and formulate a plan of care, with other members of the medical team, which is realistic to the employee’s capabilities and job requirements.
  • Recognize and treat illnesses and injuries according to established operating instructions within the scope of licensure and regulations of state employment or practice.
  • Record and maintain patient information by standard protocols and the Privacy Act.
  • Identify and record the signs and symptoms of physical and mental conditions.
  • Thoroughly exercise skill in initiative, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making daily.
  • Make independent judgments and prioritize workload.
  • Demonstrate proven success in stressful environments.
  • Pursue professional development activities and continuing education to ensure currency with present practices and trends in healthcare and specifically in the practice of emergency medical treatment.
  • Monitor reconciliation of financial transactions and ensure contract charges are applied uniformly.
  • Protect patients' privacy through confidentiality, infection control procedures, assuring consistent medication administration, and assuring proper storage and maintenance procedures for all equipment and supplies.
  • Other duties and projects assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 yr. of Skilled Nursing Care is required.
  • Graduated from an accredited Nursing school.
  • Current, unencumbered License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Current BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) required.
  • Proficiency with computers and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required.
  • Must be able to multitask, be detail-oriented, organized, and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to perform duties in a stressful and high-paced environment without physical limitations.
  • Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current PALS certification.
  • 2 years' experience as a Registered Nurse - Med/Surg, ER, or ICU, preferred

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. and have the strength to push and pull, and stand for long periods.
  • May require bending, stooping, and lifting as required for patient care and transport.

Each applicant interested in supporting GA will need to deploy and arrive at the designated site 24 - 48 hours from the time of notice. Each applicant will need to complete their onboarding packet. It is uncertain as to the locations where personnel will be needed, but they will be located at a staging area established by State agencies in various regions of the state.

Salary: $50/hr.
