Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, experienced Behavioral Health Billing Specialist to join our administrative team in Cordova, TN. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of medical billing experience, with behavioral health billing experience strongly preferred. This is an in-person, full-time role that plays a vital part in ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement for services provided by our clinicians.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit insurance claims for behavioral health and psychiatric services (both HCFA 1500 and UB-04 when applicable)
- Verify patient eligibility and insurance benefits for behavioral health services
- Monitor aging reports and follow up on unpaid or denied claims
- Correct and resubmit denied or rejected claims in a timely manner
- Post insurance and patient payments accurately into the practice management system
- Work with patients on billing inquiries, outstanding balances, and payment plans
- Coordinate with providers and front desk staff to ensure documentation accuracy
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, payer policies, and relevant state/federal regulations
- Generate financial and productivity reports as needed
- Assist in credentialing and payer enrollment processes (if needed)
- Other duties as assigned
? Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience required
- Behavioral health billing experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, modifiers, and insurance guidelines (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial)
- Experience with electronic claims processing, clearinghouses, and payer portals
- Familiarity with EHR/PM systems (such as AdvancedMD, Tebra, TherapyNotes, etc.)
- Strong understanding of insurance authorization, coding, and reimbursement
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
