Job Description:
This position provides comprehensive spiritual care to patients of all ages and their families. Services include but are not limited to, individual patient/resident support related to spiritual care, family support and prayer as well as employee support. Provide support to patients and families facing grief and end of life issues, to include assisting with decision making and Advanced Care Planning. Lead religious ceremonies of worship, rituals and other spiritual care programs as directed. Documents care and support provided and participates in meetings and educational programs. These services are provided on an on-going basis as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Serves patients in outpatient, inpatient, and residential facilities depending on Essentia Health location. Participate and/or lead committees, department improvement initiatives, and mentoring of CPE interns and other team members as directed. Develop and deliver education to different disciplines as directed.
Education Qualifications
Chaplain 1- Qualifications ($20.86 - $31.29)
For a Catholic lay person: Denomination endorsement (by Pastor, bishop, or church authority)
Chaplains from other faith traditions/denominations need to provide letter of endorsement from their denomination by Pastor, bishop, or Religious authority.
Chaplain 2- Qualifications ($22.81 - $$34.22)
For a Catholic lay person: Denomination endorsement (by Pastor, bishop, or church authority)
Chaplains from other faith traditions/denominations need to provide letter of endorsement from their denomination by Pastor, bishop, or Religious authority.
Chaplain Masters- Qualifications ($24.94 - $37.41)
For a Catholic lay person: Denomination endorsement (by Pastor, bishop, or church authority)
Chaplains from other faith traditions/denominations need to provide letter of endorsement from their denomination by Pastor, bishop, or Religious authority.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, Divinity, Ministry or a related field, or three years professional experience in related field, necessary to gain understanding in the relationship of pastoral care to medical care. Successful completion of 1 ACPE accredited unit of CPE
- Associate Membership in NACC (National Association of Catholic Chaplains) or APC (Association of Professional Chaplains) or NAJC (National Association of Jewish Chaplains) is strongly preferred.
For a Catholic lay person: Denomination endorsement (by Pastor, bishop, or church authority)
Chaplains from other faith traditions/denominations need to provide letter of endorsement from their denomination by Pastor, bishop, or Religious authority.
Chaplain 2- Qualifications ($22.81 - $$34.22)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, Divinity, Ministry or a related field, or three years professional experience in related field, necessary to gain understanding in the relationship of pastoral care to medical care. A graduate degree in Theology, Divinity, Ministry or a related field counseling, or some other job related field is preferred. Successful Completion of 2 ACPE accredited CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) units is required at the time of hire. Completion of an additional 2 ACPE accredited unit is required within 24 months of hire.
- Associate Membership in NACC (National Association of Catholic Chaplains) or APC (Association of Professional Chaplains) or NAJC (National Association of Jewish Chaplains) is strongly preferred.

- Membership in NACC (National Association of Catholic Chaplains) or APC (Association of Professional Chaplains) NAJC (National Association of Jewish Chaplains) is strongly preferred. Certification with the NACC or APC strongly preferred.

Licensure/Certification Qualifications
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license as verified through appropriate licensing agency.
- Proof of current motor vehicle insurance.
