Department Cardiovascular & Women's Health

Reports To Vice President, Specialty Care Operations (or Department Director)

Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Cardiovascular & Women's Health provides operational leadership and administrative support for both specialty service lines. This role partners with clinical and operational leadership to optimize patient access, improve workflow efficiency, enhance provider productivity, and ensure exceptional patient experiences across multiple practice locations.

The ideal candidate is an experienced healthcare operations professional with a strong understanding of ambulatory care, provider practice management, quality initiatives, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Operational Leadership

  • Support the daily operations of the Cardiovascular and Women's Health departments across multiple locations.
  • Partner with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing leadership, and administrative teams to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Monitor provider schedules, patient flow, and clinic capacity to maximize access and productivity.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement process improvements to enhance patient care and operational performance.
  • Assist with strategic planning and implementation of departmental initiatives.


Financial & Performance Management

  • Monitor departmental productivity, volume, revenue, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and expense management.
  • Review operational and financial reports to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Support cost-containment initiatives while maintaining high-quality patient care.


Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, CMS standards, Joint Commission standards, and other applicable healthcare regulations.
  • Monitor quality metrics and support initiatives focused on patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and accreditation readiness activities.


Provider & Staff Support

  • Collaborate with providers and clinical leadership to resolve operational concerns.
  • Support onboarding of new physicians, advanced practice providers, and staff.
  • Assist with provider scheduling, credentialing coordination, and operational readiness.
  • Foster a collaborative, patient-centered culture focused on teamwork and accountability.


Patient Experience

  • Develop strategies to improve patient access and reduce wait times.
  • Address patient concerns and assist with service recovery when necessary.
  • Monitor patient satisfaction scores and implement action plans for improvement.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Finance, Human Resources, IT, Revenue Cycle, Credentialing, Quality, and Clinical Leadership.
  • Coordinate implementation of new workflows, technology, and operational initiatives.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and provide operational updates and recommendations.


Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field.
  • 5 years of progressive healthcare operations or ambulatory practice management experience.
  • 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience supporting multi-provider outpatient specialty practices.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare operations, patient access, scheduling, provider productivity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems (eClinicalWorks experience preferred).


Preferred

  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), MBA, MPH, or related field.
  • Experience in Cardiovascular, Women's Health, OB/GYN, Cardiology, or other specialty care settings.
  • Experience with quality improvement initiatives and performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of value-based care and population health programs.
