ESS is looking for a motivated and versatile Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team. While focused on supplier management and performance, this person will be engaged in a wide spectrum of activities including alternative sourcing and supplier scorecard/report development. They will manage an assigned supplier base to assure products and processes, internally and externally, meet specifications and improve supplier product quality performance. This position is accountable for reviewing supplier Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documents and validation activities.

This position is accountable for reviewing supplier Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documents and validation activities.
What you’ll do at ESS.
- Responsible for initiating PPAP Forms.
- Review Supplier Part Submission Warrant documents: pFMEA; Process Flow Diagrams; Process Control Plans; Measurement System Analysis (Gage R&R); Dimensional Results (FAIR); Capability Studies; etc.
- Ensure compliance to applicable standards and internal procedures.
- Responsible for reviewing Supplier Change Requests (SCR) and Supplier Proposed Process Changes (SPPC) to ensure continuous compliance to applicable standards, Regulations, and internal procedures.
- Support manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance, and quality control process validation related activities.
- Work with SCM on effective implementation of supplier report cards and RCCA.
- Performing supplier quality system and process audits.
- Reviewing design drawings and process with Product Engineers and suppliers to assure ability to inspect for compliance.
- Work with suppliers to improve product and process quality andassistwith correlation studies and inspection plans.
- Review supplier processes, and process validations to assure internal and external processes are adequate to meet specifications.
- Work with suppliers to: assist where necessary, write and execute protocols, conduct validations.
- Assistin the design and development of methods and tooling for the test and inspection of articles
- Responsible forassistingin complaint investigations as related to product quality from suppliers.
- Alwaysmaintainacceptable 5S housekeeping standards to keep production and work areas clean. Ensuring that all tools, materials, and supplies are returned to their designated locations as soon as the task is finished.
Minimum requirements:
- BS in Electrical, Electronics, Engineering or Mechanical fields
- 3 years of experience in similar QC/QA/SQE positions.
- 5-10 years of technical experience in a complex product manufacturing environment in service, development, or manufacturing
- Intermediate to advanced shop math and statistical methods.
- Knowledge of English/Metric system measurement
- Preference for experience in large capital equipment manufacturing and/or medium volume repetitive assembly techniques.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment with dynamic daily priorities.
- Experience in new product introduction and scale to manufacturing.
- Quality system awareness.
- Experience with the properties of common plastics used in manufacturing.
- Knowledge of ISO 9000.
